Virgin Islands Sailing Academy is based in the US Virgin Islands and operates as an American Sailing Association Affiliated sailing school since 2013. We teach and certify our students to ASA standards and teach the entire series of ASA on the water classes, from beginner to ocean passage making standards. Classes are available at Virgin Islands Sailing Academy November - April to fit almost anyone's schedule.
All our instructors are ASA certified sailing instructors and have their US Coast Guard captain’s license ensuring the finest instruction available.
Virgin Islands Sailing Academy is a small boutique sailing school which serves the needs of discriminating students who only would be satisfied with sailboats in excellent condition, award winning instructors, and visiting only the best destinations. Learn to sail on our 39-foot Pearson sloop rigged sailboat that is in superb condition, and equipped with the latest in electronics, and safety equipment.
Visit exotic destinations in the US Virgin Islands including St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix while taking beginner to advanced level sailing classes.
All our sailing classes are taught in a 6-9 day, live aboard approach, where students are totally immersed into learning to sail and cruise, and no hotels are required. Class size is kept small and is typically 3-4 students with a maximum of five.
Beginning students can either take our six day combination ASA101/103 class or our most popular combination ASA101/103/104 class.
Sailors with experience, but without certification, can challenge ASA101 and take our combination 6-day combination ASA103/104 course.
Enjoy just the right mix of education and fun that most students are looking for. Although our classes emphasize educational content, when the day is done you will likely find yourself in an exotic location with time to explore and kick back.
Students who come to Virgin Islands Sailing Academy learn from instructors with multiple perspectives. Virgin Islands Sailing Academy is part of Captain In You Sailing Schools, Inc. (Established 2008) and operates as Delmarva Sailing School on the Chesapeake Bay. We also are one of the very few Sailing Schools that teach Ocean Passage Making as we move our teaching vessel in the fall and the spring, to and from St. Thomas and the Chesapeake Bay. Captain In You Sailing Schools, Inc. also operate Nockamixon Sailing School on a lake near Philadelphia giving us knowledge of smaller sailboats and lake sailing.
No other sailing school in the US or British Virgin Islands offers a wider selection of classes or possesses the experience of our friendly and knowledgeable instructors.
